Actress Kristen Connolly says she’s relieved that Joss Whedon and Drew Goddard’s Cabin in the Woods has finally hit theaters so her mother can finally see it.
Connolly adds that her mother will probably see it “a lot” in the theater.
The actress said that one of the challenges of the film was keeping the twists, turns and surprises a secret from people who asked. Luckily, she was helped by the fact that she feels the movie is “a hard one to explain to people.”
“It was actually, in a way, a nice cop out for me to be like, ‘I can’t tell you anything. I could explain it to you, but it’d take an hour,'” she tells the Hollywood Reporter. “Waiting for it to come out was a bit frustrating, but you know what, it ended up being the absolute perfect situation. It ended up at Lionsgate, which totally got the movie and has marketed it in a really incredible way. They seem to be getting people excited about the movie without really telling them anything about it, and it turned out to be absolutely perfect.”
