Catching Fire will have to do so without Gary Ross.

Last week, news broke that Ross hady left The Hunger Games franchise. Playlist reported the director will not be back for the sequel from Lionsgate. According to reports, the two sides were far apart on the issue of compensation for directing the second installment.

However, hope may not be lost for Ross to resume his directing duties.  According to the Hollywood Reporter, Ross hasn’t left the franchise yet but he’s not signed on for a sequel.

With the films doing a blockbuster business at the box-office, Lionsgate hopes to gets Ross back to direct the sequels. However, Ross’s price tag may be a bit higher than the first time.
