As debate continues over whether or not Ridley Scott’s Prometheus is or is not a prequel to Alien, writer Damon Lindelof has weighed in on the subject.
Lindelof says that in his mind, the sequel to Prometheus wouldn’t be Alien, but would instead by a parallel film taking place in the Alien universe.
“The thing about a prequel is, as fascinating as it may to watch Anakin turn to the dark side of the Force, there’s an inevitability to it. You know when you go in the prequel can only cover A to Y and then Z is gonna be the preexisting material. You can’t end it in an exciting or surprising way. You can only end it in the inevitable way,” Lindelof tells Nerdist Writers Panel. “n my opinion, in order to define Prometheus as a prequel, Is it set in the Alienuniverse? … If you just watch the teaser trailer, and you see how the word Prometheusreveals itself … or look at the production design, you don’t need me to tell you anything.”

Ridiculous pretension. We all know what happens in the end here too, the ship crashes and the alien cargo is not delivered to the earth, and we know this because of Alien. God some of these people make me embarrassed to be an aspiring writer.
