The Hunger Games took in another $61.1 million over the weekend to lead the box office for the second straight weekend. While the movie fell by close to 60%, it was still good enough to easily propel the big screen version of the best-selling novel to the top of the box office results.
In second was The Wrath of the Titans with $34.2 million.
Third place went to Mirror, Mirror with $19 million.
In fourth was 21 Jump Street with $15 million. Dr. Seuss’The Loraxrounded out the top five with $8 million this weekend.

I had never read the Hunger Games books….hesitated on going to see the movie…went in spite of getting the wrong theater and being ten minutes late (thankfully only missed a few previews)…was completely glued to the screen the entire time…must say best movie I’ve seen in a long time…and now…I’m reading the books.

I found this movie to be very faithful to the book. I would even compare it to Harry Potter and the sorcer’s stone as in they only took out about 10%. I was hesitate at first when the casting was announced but I can’t imagine anyone else playing these roles. Excellent Movie!!

Movie and book compliment each other very well. Gary doesn’t do much directing but I loved his work on this. Only thing I didn’t like was some of the hand held camera, I’m really ready for that trend to go away, especially on the big screen.
But screenplay had to make some choices to get all the story in and I can’t complain about any of those choices. You can watch the movie then read the books and go deeper or you can read the books and re-live the suspense on screen. I loved how the movie showed things in the control room and they had clever use of sports commentary to give little info dumps. Casting was pretty good, especially the girl who played Rue; she made you care very strongly for the character in a very short amount of time. Most of all I loved the use of silence in some of the most suspenseful scenes. Very well done over all. Some VERY emotional beats, some not where I expected.

Never read the books, but (because of all the hub-bub) I went to see the movie … not impressed at all.
