Love Angry At “The Muppets”

Love Angry At “The Muppets”

March 14, 2012 By Mike Hickerson 2 Comments

Singer Courtney Love is upset with Kermit and Miss Piggy.

According to TMZ, Love says The Muppets “raped” the memory of her husband Kurt Cobain by using his hit single Smells Like Teen Spirit in the film.

Love says this is because the film didn’t ask to use the song during a scene involving a barbershop quartet.   Love says she has absolute power of whether or not Cobain’s songs and lyrics can be used and that she did not sign off on the use of the song in the film.

The article on TMZ indicates that Love has sold off about half of the Cobain catalog company called Primary Wave Music and that she gave exclusive rights to the company to distribute the Nirvana catalog.

It appears that Primary Wave gave the movie permission to use the song and that it’s use had the blessing of surviving Nirvana members Dave Grohl and Krist Novoselic.

Knowing how reportedly excited Cobain & the others were about being made into a weird al song I would think he would have found this amusing.
