Sony Pictures is once again considering a solo movie for Spider-Man foe Venom.
Featured in Sam Raimi’s Spider-Man 3, Venom could soon see the big-screen under the direction of Project X’s Josh Trank. Trank had been linked to a reboot of Fantastic Four with 20th Century Fox, but it appears he may now headed to the Venom project.
A movie based on the character has been rumored for several years now. It was a hot ticket before Spidey 3 hit theaters and then cooled a bit in the wake of Spidey 3. The film would center on the gooey villain who was a mainstay of the Marvel comics. The character attaches himself to a human host and becomes as powerful as the web-slinging superhero.
The Los Angeles Times reports the film is looking for a new script and a new lead actor for the role of Venom.
