Producers Planning “Once Upon A Time” Sophomore Season

Producers Planning “Once Upon A Time” Sophomore Season

March 6, 2012 By Mike Hickerson 6 Comments

While the series hasn’t got the official renewal notice from ABC, Once Upon a Time is considered by most to be a lock to get a sophomore season.  The series is the highest rated new drama on television.

With the first season winding down, producers and writers are turning their attention on where things will go in season two.

“We have some ideas for Season 2,”Once Upon A Time co-creator/ co-showrunner Edward Kitsis admitted during a PaleyFest 2012 panel yesterday. ““It’s been challenging to pull off (this show) every week because we’re trying to balance two worlds and thematically link them,” said Kitsis, who co-created the show with Adam Horowitz. “We were never interested in just retelling the old (fairy) tales.

Kitsis also revealed that the cast on screen were all the first choices of producers for the roles.

“Everyone that we asked (to be on the show) said yes,” he says.

I really wish they’d hurry up and wrap up this whole Snow White and prince charming lovy dovy story, it’s getting tiring. Bring back more queen plot tie-ins.

Agreed, the Evil Queen is my favorite part of the show. She is just fun to watch and weave her little wicked threads. Her costume designer better start winning some awards, because I’ve never seen woman wear so much and be that smokin’ hot. The Charming/Snow White story bores me, the kid annoys me, Emma has gotten more intersting since she’s been sheriff, but still needs to go a lot further to make me love her as a character.

Robert Carlyl’s Rumplestiltskin/Mr. Gold is just amazing and truly fun and twisted. I can’t wait until they explore Ruby/Red’s story a little more, I feel that’s going to be a fun story thread and I have to admit that I really liked Grumpy’s backstory with the fairy, played by Amy Acker. I’d like to see that progress. OUAT, you’ve caught my attention and I like you, but please make me love you!

I’ve been thinking the Queen is the weak link in terms of acting. She should be relishing that role but for the most part she hasn’t been selling it. Just imagine if you had someone like Helena B. Carter in that role, she would elevate the show like Carlisle does. Henry and Emma are great. That kid was the first one to hook me into the show, he has more presence than the queen. She has gotten a tiny bit better though, hopefully she will start enjoying her work.

Really? I think she totally embodies the evil queen, I love her smerk and the devious side of her, as well as her softer sides when she had to sacrifice her own father to get a curse. I think she is the best one, her and Mr Gold/Rumplestiltskin..

I’m with Skiznot. I stopped watching that show after about five episodes, primarily because she’s just bad. I found the whole show progressively less and less tolerable. So no surprise that it would get renewed 🙂

I love the show but hope they don’t turn it into another LOST when it come to trying to keep a show alive long after the story disappeared. Another season would be perfect and then get to the happy ever after.
