Real Navy SEALS beat out Tyler Perry and Jennifer Aniston at the box office this weekend.
The R-rated action thriller Act of Valor, featuring real life Navy SEALS in the starring role, surprised the box office, taking in $24.7 million.
That was enough to beat out the latest entry from Tyler Perry, Tyler Perry’s Good Deeds which earned $16.0 million in its debut weekend.
Third place went to Journey 2: Mysterious Island with $13.5 million. The film has done solid business in the U.S. and is doing very well overseas.
Denzel Washington’s Safe House took fourth with $11.4 million, followed by love storyThe Vow with $10 million.
Awesome movie! And deservedly the #1 Film of the week, even though the competition was weak.
