Edgar Wright could direct Johnny Depp in the big-screen version of The Night Stalker.
Based on the 70’s horror show, Night Stalker would be produced by Disney according to the Hollywood Reporter. Wright is currently in negotiations to direct the film.
Originally based on the novel The Kolchak Papers byJeff Rice, The Night Stalker follows newspaper reporter Carl Kolchak who investigates supernatural occurrences. Depp is attached to play the title role (Darren McGavin played him in the ’70s TV version) and serve as the project’s producer alongside Christi Dembrowski, Depp’s partner at Infinitum Nihil.
Wright has been linked to a big-screen version of Antman for Marvel and Disney as well. No word yet on if or how Stalker could impact production on the superhero film.
