Actor Jonny Lee Miller will play the immortal Sherlock Holmes in CBS’s pilot Elementary.
The project is a modern take on the Sherlock Holmes mythology and has been the center of controversy for several weeks. The BBC is considering a lawsuit to keep the series off the air, alleging the proposed series is too similar to its own updated Holmes series, Sherlock.
Miller has featured in a recurring role on Dexter and was part of the cast of Eli Stone.

Ugh. Really? The only way this thing had any hope of being good was if they cast someone spectacularly amazing as Sherlock. JLM is fine, but he is not it. People will be comparing him to Benedict Cumberbatch and it won’t go well for him.
I give this show a max of 5 episodes aired before they cancel it…if it even makes it to air.
Thought for a second…Dennis Miller?
I like JLM, but I’m having a hard time putting see this. On the other hand, I said the same thing about Heath Ledger when I learned he was playing the Joker, so what the hell do I know? And, we can always retreat to awe inspiring Sherlock or the beloved Jeremy Brett series if this turns into a trainwreck.
Miller might make a better Dr. Watson. But, like Chavalier said, “What the hell do I know?” Miller could end up being great in it as Mr. Holmes. He as damn good in Eli Stone.
