Actress Mary Elizabeth Winstead has been cast as the female lead in The Darkness.
Directed by Daniel Stamm, the project is loosely based on Henry James’ Turn of the Screw.
The movie follows s “a young American student working for a charismatic tutor in an English manor house who becomes convinced that she and the children she is warding are being haunted.”
Filming will begin in Europe this summer.
Winstead may be best known for her work in the recent The Thing and Scott Pilgrim vs. the World. She will be in the upcoming adaptation of Abraham Lincoln, Vampire Hunter.
