Slice of SciFi, the most downloaded SciFi news program on the Web and the definitive source for geek entertainment news will be airing on SiriusXM Satellite Radio Channel 80. The show that is to SciFi fans what The Daily Show is to politics covers everything SciFi–films, TV, books, comics and more. “Slice” (as it’s sometimes called by longtime fans) has been broadcasting on satellite radio for more than five years. The move to SiriusXM 80 is part of a channel line up overhaul long overdue since the merger between satellite radio competitors Sirius and XM.
Starting today, Slice of SciFi, the most downloaded SciFi news program on the Web and the definitive source for geek entertainment news will be broadcast on SiriusXM Satellite Radio Channel 80. The show that is to SciFi fans what The Daily Show is to politics covers everything SciFi–films, TV, books, comics and more.
As of today, regardless of which satellite network subscribers use, Slice of SciFi will be on the same channel numbers throughout the U.S., making it easier for traveling subscribers to find their favorite programming. The show is owned by FarPoint Media, the company founded by respected radio personality Michael R. Mennenga, CEO who also has solid street cred in the SciFi News world.
Said Mennega, Slice of SciFi’s host, “I am thrilled that Slice has a permanent home on Channel 80 and is readily accessible to more than 20 million satellite radio subscribers.” He added, “Many of those subscribers will be getting in touch with their inner geek when they land on Slice of SciFi.” Weekly, Mennenga is joined in the studio with News Anchors Brian Brown and Sam Roberts, who deliver the late-breaking SciFi headlines, as well as color commentators Tim Adamec and Bret Filipek, who stir up the action with quick wit, snarky comments, and brilliant deep geeking. Episodes also include relevant and insightful interviews from actors, filmmakers, producers, authors and artists involved in the latest SciFi works.
“Thor” and “Doctor Who” are trending as the top stories this week according to Slice of SciFi News Director, Michael Hickerson. “Both of these franchises are rooted deep in SciFi and reach a broad audience of both young and old,” said Hickerson, who is charged with scooping and posting science fiction news from around the globe on the show’s website, https://www.sliceofscifi.com, where more than 50,000 fans get their daily headlines.
“Slice of SciFi TV” is also big news for fans of the show. Since 2011, regular listeners to the radio show now watch the in-studio antics as the ensemble cast records the show. “We launched http://www.sliceofscifi.tv this year without any promotion whatsoever, and there were hundreds of viewers watching the live stream video of us creating the shows,” said Summer Brooks, the producer of Slice. She continued, “Just like Howard Stern, Dan Patrick and other shows, watching on video of the making of a radio show has become its own hot new genre of programming.”

Um, Mike. Slice moved to channel 80 almost a year ago when SiriusXM redid their channel lineup. Where you been? Lol. I don’t listen that much myself anymore cause I don’t like the 30 minute show. Was much better as an hour show. Now all you really get is Nigel’s multiverse (which isn’t that funny most of the time) and an interview. The host interactions, the movie and TV discussions and the guess this clip were the best part of the show. I really miss it.
KT, lucky for you there are 2 different 30 minute Slice of SciFi episodes on SiriusXM these days!
The first show that airs on Tuesday is the show that’s on the website on Monday, complete with the movie and TV discussions and the trivia clips, and the second show on Friday is the interview show that’s on the website on Wednesday.
The difference now is that there are no repeats, but it’s two different shows each week. So the show you enjoy most is the first show of the week.
At 6am. I know I’m a trucker and work long and odd hours, but even I’m not up at 6am est very often. And when I’m on the west coast it becomes even more unlikely.
I think you guys and Kim from book radio should talk about switching them so that the better show is on Friday.
There ARE repeats, especially on holidays ( Christmas and Thanksgiving) Sorry, i don’t care for the split programming either. Three O’clock on Fridays is a very busy time ( work) so i miss every show. I also don’t care for the fact that you guys area bout a week to ten days late on news. Example, havent heard a WORD about Halo4 and any of the videos produced for its release.
