“Hancock” Sequel Could Still Happen

“Hancock” Sequel Could Still Happen

January 19, 2012 By Mike Hickerson 5 Comments

Peter Berg and Will Smith haven’t given up on a sequel to Hancock.

According to Berg, Smith is still interested in reprising his role from the first film and there are plans in place for a second installment.

“We’ve been talking about the sequel between us, Will Smith, [producers] Michael Mann and Akiva Goldsman and myself,” says Berg. “We’re all interested, but we literally just have trouble getting into the same room at the same time. We did have a series of meetings last year and started to hash out an idea for sequel—and Will Smith actually had the idea—so I think it will happen, it’s just a question of timing.”

Of course, the bigger question is–do audiences really want a Hancock sequel?

The even bigger question is “Does anyone want to pay the price of a movie ticket to see any movie these days?”

Not me. For over 4 years I’ve waited until the movie was on Netflix. The wait keeps getting longer but I don’t care.

I used to buy the DVDs rather than go to the movie. The price has crept up on those too. That’s okay, I can wait.

I didn’t think Hancock was all that bad, and I can see how it would appeal to a wider audience, but I don’t really see a potential for a sequel. Maybe if they get a good writer they could make a prequel. If that were the case I would…..rent it when it came out.

I think they should be required to fix the first movie before making a second one. They really only need to redo the 2nd half really (you all know what I’m talking about).
