Miller Teases “Terra Nova” Finale

Miller Teases “Terra Nova” Finale

December 12, 2011 By Mike Hickerson 5 Comments

Warning: The following article contains potential SPOILERS for Terra Nova.  If you don’t want to know anything about the next several episodes, please stop reading now.

As Terra Nova winds up its first season, actress Allison Miller, who plays Skye on the show, says fans can expect a few twists, including a potential death.

“There’s going to be so much left unanswered,” Miller tells Entertainment weekly.

The finale, which airs next Monday, opens with the colonists anticipating the arrival of the 11th Pilgrimage. Producers have already spilled that not just one, but two people will die, including a “person who is without family,” there will be an explosion, and there is an unexpected trip back to 2149.

“It felt like we went back to the pilot as far as the scope and scale of everything,” said Miller. “It’s just so huge, it sort of has this post-apocalyptic feel to it that’s dark and interesting.” As far as who might be killed off in the finale, “I was so disappointed. I mean, it’s heartbreaking. It’s so, so sad.”

However, she does say we’ll get some answers. We’ll learn why Lucas wants the portal to go into the future, as well as the past, and how Lucas and Taylor ended up on different sides of things. “You’ll know exactly what has been driving them apart all these years,” said Miller. And we’ll find out about an organization with “something else in mind for Terra Nova.”

Since we’ve already heard about new evildoers named the Phoenix Group, we’re guessing that might be the organization she’s talking about.

According to executive producer Brannon Braga: “We have supercharged the premise of our show in a very chilling way. … Everything changes.”

“It would not be fair to anyone to not give us a second season,” said Miller.

    They’re Doomed.

I think me and my wife are the only two people that actually kinda like the show. It’s about the only family friendly SciFi/Fantasy show out there that I can sit with my 8 year old son and watch. It’s not the most cutting edge and the acting is not the absolute best I’ve seen but it’s not as horrible as people on the bandwagon are saying.

Then again, I’m just one man with an opinion.

My issues with it were how slow things were moving, and a little bit how convenient some of the plot points seemed to be. It almost feels like they had enough story for an 8-episode arc and were going to move on to another arc after that one, but didn’t have time to come up with more story because Fox asked for more episodes than they initially had story for, so they stretched it out.

I could be wrong, but that’s what it feels like. I also feel that it may not be coming back after next week’s “fall finale”, which is a shame because the weak execution in some places may have doomed what could have been a fun show.

I would have preferred the show began with the 1st pilgrimage. It would have been a bit more interesting to watch Terra Nova become the place it currently is & all the obstacles that Taylor & his son went through. I am getting a bit hooked on it now though and hope Fox gives it a new slot next fall. I am also looking forward to Alcatraz. If the previews are any indication, this could be a show worth viewing.

I was beginning to wonder with the last episode if they were going to start exploring it more or just leave it as the explanation he gave on why his son hates him so much. It will not surprise me though if they get FireFly’d

Well I must admit that I will miss “Jurassic Star Gate.” They were too fond of showing that massive dinosaur fence and those jungle buggies. Less talk and more action would have been nice, but we will never get to see that.
