Archie Comics Bring Back A Familiar Face

December 12, 2011 By Mike Hickerson 1 Comment

Betty and Veronica get ready, you’ve got some new competition for Archie.

The long running comic series will bring back a popular character as a new romantic interest for Archie next year.  USA Today reports Valerie Brown, the tambourine player with Josie and the Pussycats, will move back to Riverdale next year and shake things up romantically in the comic book.

“The fans can expect the next step in what I think is the most romantic story in Archie history,” says Dan Parent, the writer and artist of the Archie Comics title. “The chemistry between Archie and Valerie was hot the first time they got together, and now you’ve really got to see it simmer, all the way from the rekindling of their romance to getting much more serious than we’ve seen before.”

The new three issue story arc will mirror similar storylines with Betty and Veronica in which the comic asks what would it be like if Archie were married. In this case, it will be to Valerie, whom Archie had a romantic connection with in an earlier storyline.

In addition to more of Valerie, readers will meet her brother, “who will also be shaking things up in Riverdale,” Parent says. And the Pussycats have been away on tour, but now they have a reason to return.

Hey, can Archie have a parallel world story arc like the one Sheldon mentions in Big Bang Theory. Now that would totally rock.
