Spielberg Loved “Indy 4”

Spielberg Loved “Indy 4”

December 5, 2011 By Mike Hickerson 4 Comments

Director Steven Spielberg says he has no regrets about working on Indiana Jones and the Crystal Skull.

The film has been polarizing among fans with many disliking it and a few defending it.  In recent months, several from the film have thrown the film under the bus and while Spielberg admitted a few weeks ago he didn’t like the alien plotline, he says overall he’s satisfied with the film.

“I’m really proud of the movie,” Spielberg tells Entertainment Weekly. “I loved bringing Marion back, I love the fact that Indy now has a son. It’s a family action film, and I love that whole conceit.”

He continued: “It’s public that George [Lucas] and I and Harrison [Ford] all had a clash about genre and concept. But I’ve always told George’s stories. George wrote all four stories for all four movies.”

I actually liked it too. Not as good as Raiders or Crusade of course, but better than Temple of Dumb (as my Dad and I like to call it).

The movie was well executed given the content. It had some good action and I also enjoyed seed Marion back in the film series.

It was the alien element that positively ruined it for me. Indiana Jones movies were always about the mystical/supernatural, and here it turned into a science fiction which somewhat ruined the overall movie experience for me.

I guess I don’t get the complaints about the aliens. The first three movies were about supposedly “religious” artifacts. Who is to say those items weren’t of extra-terrestrial origin?

And who’s to say that some of the beings our distant ancestors called “gods” weren’t really extra-terrestrials?

Yes, I’m very likely addicted to History Channel’s Ancient Aliens, why do you ask? 😉
