“Walking Dead” Ratings Solid For Mid-Season Finale

“Walking Dead” Ratings Solid For Mid-Season Finale

November 29, 2011 By Mike Hickerson 8 Comments

The Walking Dead didn’t stumble to its mid-season finale Sunday evening.  The series continued its upward ratings trend, out performing the first season finale.

The episode, which aired following a six-hour marathon of Season 2 episodes, drew 6.6 million total viewers and 4.5 million in the advertiser-coveted adults 18-49 demographic, pulling in 3.9 million in the adults 25-54 demo, according to Nielsen.

The series returns in February.

The Walking Dead is a fantastic show that impressed me to the fullest, I just love this show. Season one had a “wow” factor that this season however is totally lacking. Now I may watch too much television, but this show has become so predictable. I hope it gets better when it returns in February.

    Ugh! This show is boring!!!!!!!!!!!
    Umm…where are all the zombies?
Each episode is good for like 5 minutes (when there are zombies) and then boring for 45 minutes.

That mid-season ending was right on point. This show IS NOT about the zombies… it’s about Rick Grimes. The zombies are the background fodder, but NOT the story. So if your complaint is that there aren’t enough zombies then you missed the point of the show to begin with. Sorry.

@KGDC: Exactly. I love the little predicaments they set up for dealing with the zombies like they are a minor annoyance (zombie in a well?) but the show isn’t about zombies. It’s about how people deal with the constant threat.

@Sonya: I think there’s been a lot more wow in this season. I can’t say too much without spoilers but holy moly.

Whoever said the show about zombies? The show is about the survivors and their ability to cope with their new environment. The show is brilliant. The amount of zombie interaction is just right IMO.

“Whoever said the show about zombies?”

You never happened to noticed the title of the show, no? Season one was awesome, season two not so much. It has turned into another Sunset Beach, or Desperate Housewives if you need a more recent comparison… It’s completely understandable that the show get more viewers, with God being the number one topic in the show to add some salt in the wounds. It’s just ridiculous. People are stupid.

I have noticed the title. And in mine and many others opinions, the doesn’t refer to the zombies. The walking dead are actually the survivors. But that’s what we get out of it. I for one love that its not another dumbed down Romero copy.

If you want non-stop gore, I would recommend the Resident Evils, The 28-Days line, or one of the new Romero-based Dead movies. Or possibly one of the dark comedies like Zombieland, Shaun of the Dead, Dead Alive, or Fido.

I agree that this show is about how the survivors are coping with the post-plague world, and with each other. And that for me, is a refreshing twist. That there are zombies around is secondary. Bravo, I say.
