OK, so it’s not Frogger or Joust but yet another video game is being turned into a film.
This time it’s the 80’s classic Rampage.
The game let players choose one of three monsters–Lizzie (a titanic lizard/Godzilla knockoff), George (a King Kong-esque overgrown gorilla) and Ralph (a towering werewolf )–whose goal it was to smash up entire cities and waves of various armed forces trying to stop your rampage.
New Line Cinema and producer John Rickard will figure out how to take the game and turn into a movie. At this point, your guess is as good as ours for how this will work. But then again, they are making a Battleship movie.
Do it as a comedy, and amp the city destruction scenes up to 11 ala 2012 and you have a future camp classic in your hands.
