Fisher Strikes Back

Fisher Strikes Back

November 14, 2011 By Mike Hickerson 1 Comment

Princess Leia is striking back at Captain Kirk.

Carrie Fisher has responded to William Shatner’s criticism of Star Wars a few weeks ago.  You may recall that Shatner dismissed the Star Wars saga, saying that Trek got into deeper issues and had better characters and saying Star Wars was based around spectacle and little else.

In a video response at Trek News, Fisher said, “”They’re not in the same league. I mean, they have the word ‘Star’ in the title and there’s a space travel, right? Where did they go to? Klingon? It sounds like a laundry detergent. Maybe it’s just their effects. They’re not called special effects.”

Fisher then went on to add that her space buns were more attractive than Shatner’s co-star Leonard Nimoy’s.

“George [Lucas] allowed Bill one day to be in the Darth Vader costume and do the breathing and everything. I’ve never seen anyone so excited. He couldn’t do it,” she added.

But that wasn’t the only outfit from a galaxy far, far away Fisher says Shatner wanted to try on.  She asserts he also wanted to try on the famous slave Leia bikini from Return of the Jedi.  She then went on to challenge Shatner of clinging costumes–her in the slave Leia outfit and Shatner in his original classic Trek uniform.

Fisher closed by saying “If you see Bill Shatner, call him Han Solo.”

Carrie was actually much more graceful in her criticism of Shat then the other way around. Big kudos to her for keeping it civil, which is a bit out of character for her; the diet must be working.
