What is Joss Whedon’s New Project?

October 24, 2011 By Mike Hickerson Leave a Comment

Joss Whedon sure knows how to tease his fans.

The creator of Buffy, Angel, Firefly and Doctor Horrible has reportedly finished principle photography on a new project. And no, it’s not The Avengers.

Mutant Enemy alum Nathan Fillion tweeted out the news last night, including a link to a web site called Much Ado About Nothing. Fillion, Sean Maher and costume designer Shawna Trpcic all tweeted the link and the news.

Going to the web site doesn’t reveal much. The site features a single photo of a man in what appears to be a lake wearing scuba gear and holding a martini glass.

The site reads, “Bellwether Pictures is proud to announce the completion of principal photography” and says the project is “a film by Joss Whedon based on a play.” The film bio does state that the film will be “a modern version of Shakespeare’s classic comedy.”

It also lists a slew of actors who have worked with Whedon in the past, including Fillion, Amy Acker, Fran Krantz, Reed Diamond, Tom Lenk and Sean Maher.

The Internet was buzzing with speculation on what the project could be with some hopeful it might be a follow-up to Doctor Horrible. Others on-line wondered how Whedon found the time for the project while prepping for and working on The Avengers.

Trpcic answered some questions about the project on Sunday night but gave only vague answers.

In response to the question “full-length film, short or web series?” she wrote: “Film ish not sure in what format he will release it.”
