Shatner Calls Out Takei

Shatner Calls Out Takei

October 4, 2011 By Mike Hickerson 2 Comments

The feud between William Shatner and one of his classic Star Trek co-stars looks to be heating up with the release of Shatner’s new book, Shatner Rules.

In the book, Shatner takes aim at co-star George Takei saying that Takai’s ego could never handle being a supporting character on the show.

“[Takei] says that I have a ‘big, shiny, ego!’ Well, actors have big egos,” Shatner writes. “If mine is shiny, it’s because I tend to it very carefully and lovingly. Perhaps George’s needs a good polish.”

Shatner doesn’t stop there, going on to say that the reason he didn’t attend Takei’s wedding ceremony is that he never received an invitation.

Takei has repeatedly claimed that he invited Shatner to the ceremony but he didn’t show up. In the book, Shatner claims that he never received the invite and says Takei decided to name fellow co-stars Walter Koenig (Chekov) and Nichelle Nichols (Uhura) best man and maid of honor, respectively, just to get media attention.

The books hits stores and e-readers today.

This feud has been going on as long as I can remember and I’m in my early forties! It’s like an episode of The Golden Girls. You two don’t get along. We get it already!
