“Hulk” TV Show Won’t Draw From Movies

“Hulk” TV Show Won’t Draw From Movies

August 15, 2011 By Mike Hickerson 32 Comments

Should the new TV version of the Hulk get the green light, producer Guillermo Del Toro says it won’t be tied to the movie contintuity.

Del Toro says the series will draw inspiration from the comic books and create its own continuity.

“We had a long, long talk about that, and we’ve been given license,” he said. “I mean, I think the comics, y’know,” he tells MTV. ” Pak’s Hulk is great, and Loeb’s Hulk is great, and there’s so many things in the Hulk universe that are powerful strands of narrative. They know we are being faithful to those strands, and the movies have their own continuity.”

He added that one of the big hurdles is creating the series on a television budget.

“We are finding ways around it. It’s a tricky one to figure out in the model, but if we are successful at that, then you can go into it,” he added.

The series is expected to be part of the pilot season for the 2012-13 season for ABC.

I would Vote for Edward Norton to play the Lead of Bruce Banner in the New Hulk TV Show.

I would say that they need to know how to Pull in a Better Bruce Banner and they should look for and actor that’s not only able to acted but that could really look just like the character from the comic Book and the television Show. That looks like Bill Bixby, and Edward Norton should be first choice cast as Bruce Banner, and Danile Radcliffe should be second choice be cast as Bruce Banner.

My Advice to all the Hulk Fans that Guillermo Del toro should cast a Better Bruce Banner than Mark Ruffalo and Eric Bana,I would said to cast Edward Norton hes Looks like his Mid-20’s. Norton looks just like Bill Bixby and 1960’s comic book cartoon.

The CG model they can just put in and make it move about, they’ll probably make shock footage of him leaping and roaring and fighting the army.

We’ll see more Bruce Banner in the series because Hulk is human most of the time, another way to save money.

      December 12, 2011 at 11:01 am

The Hulk will be created with full robotic instead of CGI because it will save money another way to save money is to cast the same cast like Edward Norton Liv Tyler William Hurt and Tim Roth and Tim Blake Nelson.

It’s like the Cylons in Battlestar Galactica, in the original they were men covered in silver plastic in the new one they were CGI, David Eick is probably doing the same thing with the Hulk instead of a bodybuilder painted green with a shaggy wig they’re doing a CG green monster.

I believe that The New Hulk TV Series will have more real elements Than the Avengers movie because in The Avengers Movie needs to replace Mark Ruffalo because it looks just like Ang Lee creaton than the Incredible Hulk 2008 with Edward Norton, So that’s why they need to get another Bruce Banner that’s younger in his mid 20’s for the another Avengers movie.

  7. Michael McDonnell says

Could have it be like 24 or Prison Break with the main character being hunted by government forces and the Bruce and Betty love story would make it like The Fly or King Kong the series with a woman trying to save the man she loves.

    • Gilberto Edwards says

      December 12, 2011 at 11:07 am

The either need a Bill Bixby alike or cast Edward Norton and the storyline
Needs a Homage of Bill Bixby’s version on The new live action series.

    • Gilberto Edwards says

      February 7, 2012 at 12:53 pm

The New Hulk TV Series is about the love story of Bruce Banner and Betty Ross.Guillermo Del Toro mention that he wanted to add his own spin story about what happen to Bruce Banner, but he should start off from were they left off from the Incredible Hulk 2008 Film.

      • Michael McDonnell says

        February 8, 2012 at 9:04 am

Well they’re doing that with the Avengers.

  8. Gilberto Edwards says

    February 7, 2012 at 12:56 pm

I believe they should make they own spin and have a Homage with the New Hulk TV Series.

    • Michael McDonnell says

      February 8, 2012 at 9:13 am

In order for it to be their own spin the series would have to establish it’s own idenity otherwise they’re just copy someone else’s take and people are going think oh I’ve seen and they’ve been done that.

  9. Gilberto Edwards says

    February 7, 2012 at 1:00 pm

The Avengers 2012 with Hulk played by Mark Ruffalo is not Good at all it’s real terrible special Effects. So most of the people don’t like the Hulk from the Avengers 2012 because full CGI and Don’t look like Edward Norton Hulk.

    • Michael McDonnell says

      February 8, 2012 at 9:07 am

Who gives a shit if the Hulk is CG he’s suppose to be big.

  10. Michael McDonnell says

    February 8, 2012 at 9:13 am

Both Del Toro and Eick have a creative responsibility, if they want to establish their own Hulk community on television Marvel would’ve gone along with it.

  11. Michael McDonnell says

    February 8, 2012 at 9:14 am

Del Toro’s plans for the series sound like a more original, modern retelling of the Hulk’s origins.

  12. Michael McDonnell says

    February 8, 2012 at 9:16 am

The point is the old series was great for it’s time it’s well made, it’s well done most fans still hail it as the definitive version but it is necessary to move forward and make a live action version of the Hulk that is distinctive by coming up with a different way to present the character.

  13. Michael McDonnell says

    February 8, 2012 at 9:19 am

I think having it more like the old series would just prevent it from establishing it’s own identity, no matter how good or how loved the old series is it is necessary to moveforward like Chris Nolan’s Batman was completely different from Tim Burton’s films because he had a different conception on how he wanted to tell Batman’s story and how he wanted to present the character.

  14. Michael McDonnell says

    February 25, 2012 at 1:21 pm

It’s been 3 months since we had a update on the series and no 2012 updates yet.

    • Gilberto Edwards says

      March 21, 2012 at 8:46 pm

And don”t be in a rush for a New Hulk TV series cast let Jeph Leob have some more time on who to cast for the lead.

  15. Michael McDonnell says

    February 25, 2012 at 2:05 pm

If the series happens it is likely they’ll go with an entirely new cast.

    • Gilberto Edwards says

      March 21, 2012 at 6:03 pm

If its reboot I will go to marvel entertainment to talk about who they should cast as Bruce Ban ner and tell them that clay akien will be a perfect choice for Bruce Banner as the lead and Lou Ferrigno as the voice of the Hulk.

    • Gilberto Edwards says

      March 21, 2012 at 7:43 pm

The should making a anoucnes about who they will cast as the new Bruce Banner in the new Hulk live action Tv series maybe after Avengers get release around between may and or June.

    • Gilberto Edwards says

      March 21, 2012 at 8:30 pm

What I mean is Del Toro needs some more time on working on the storyline so that it comes out perfect along with perfect cast and the Hulk creation too make sure the Hulk won”t end up like the Avengers movie with the Hulk on how they made him CGI fully, not any more the mix it robotic and prosethetics with puppetry.

  16. Michael McDonnell says

    March 7, 2012 at 2:43 pm

Del Toro has been busy with other projects like Pacific Rim and what about David Eick he’s in on it too and he is doing the Battlestar Galactica: Blood and Chrome TV series.

    • Gilberto Edwards says

      March 21, 2012 at 9:13 pm

They are doing another Incredible Hulk 2 this year with Edward Norton because it was anounce in wiki marvel movies they stated that Tim Blake Nelson is contract and Tim Roth too will return. The Incredible Hulk 2 was in production planned since 2008 film was release and Gale Anne Hurd stated on MTV in October 2008 she wants to make a Sequel and Edward Norton is sign on once again get angry to play Bruce Banner, the film be produced after the Avengers 2012 which is in 2012.

      • Michael McDonnell says

        March 22, 2012 at 2:01 pm

Contracts and Gale Anne Hald wanting Ed Norton for a sequel doesn’t guarantee it will happen, besides she said that four years a go things change.

  17. Michael McDonnell says

    March 22, 2012 at 2:25 pm

The pliot and possible season one will be the origin story on how Bruce Banner became the Hulk, they had to repeat it but do something a little different and tell it in a original way.

It would be simpler to have a guy in a green muscle suit like the Hellboy make up or the Hulk from Scary Movie 3 alternative ending, possibly played by the same actor who might play Banner so the Hulk would look like a jacked up Bruce Banner if they can’t afford an animatrontic/CGI Hulk.

  18. Michael McDonnell says

    March 30, 2012 at 8:37 pm

They’re taking all the Marvel TV show slow to get them right, Loeb’s answer in a update is always the same “we’re in development” they said they were going for the 2012-13 season but now the pilot season has ended they may say next year but then the next and the next.
