My only problem is having to wait almost a year to see what happens next.( I know that is not an original line but it’s the truth )

Totally unexpected ending…show has grown on me over the season and I’ll be waiting to see where it goes next season…and agree with Michael…a year is a long time to wait.

While a year seems like a long time to wait (& it is) that use to be standard programming back in the day. At least these days we get original programming all year long. There was a time (in the days of just the Big 3 Nets) when you got new programming Sept thru April & then spent the remaining months in televised stagnation. So, while FS may be off air until next summer we do have new shows to pick up the slack all over the place.
I guess it kind of did surprise me because I was expecting a typical bad guys explode good guys cheer kind of ending. The show stayed on the better side of meh for me but still thought it pulled too many punches and the 2nd Mass. folks were way too forgiving of traitors to humanity. Still if next summer has as little to choose from in Genre TV as this summer, I’ll probably see season 2.

I appreciated that the alien allowed him to board the ship armed. I wouldn’t have given up my rifle either.

How far are you extending the “final scene”? Do you mean how the attack failed? Or the Mek Metal RPG did so much damage? Or finding out the aliens admitting they never encountered this much resistance?
Actually all three were surprising. I was hoping to see some form of progress against the aliens, but it looks like the 2nd Mass got a heavy blow dealt to them (only a few fighters left, evacuating their base, etc). I was more surprised about the reveal about the aliens themselves. They’ve done this before on other worlds and were successful. That’s not good for Earth. Worst case is that the aliens evacuate then bombard the planet with meteors to keep us from going into the galaxy and putting a stop to them.
