Hathaway’s Catwoman Costume Revealed

Hathaway’s Catwoman Costume Revealed

August 5, 2011 By Sam Sloan 4 Comments

Warner Brothers has released the first official still of actress Anne Hathaway as Catwoman.

Anne Hathaway as Catwoman in "The Dark Knight Rises"

The pictures  shows a Catwoman quite different from other film incarnations. There are no feline ears, half-masks or strategically placed costume tears like the ones on Halle Berry’s costume . Instead, Hathaway, with her hair tied back in a ponytail, sports black goggles and a skintight black jumpsuit while riding what appears to be the Batpod.

If you want to know more about Catwoman, you’ll have to wait. Hathaway says that she’s sworn to secrecy on the role.

Can’t see it very well…but from what I do see it doesn’t look much like catwoman to me(could be any superhero or villain)…sometimes staying with what has worked in the past is better…I wasn’t big on the choice of Hathaway anyway.

Catwoman got her name because she is a cat burglar. Also the reason why her costume had cat ears in the first place was for purely aesthetic reasons given that every superhero and their dog had a costume.
However this version of Batman doesn’t acknowledge the extended universe with its collection of costumed freaks and as far as costumes go is quite restrained.
Besides, cat burglar, if your career involves breaking into places and taking other peoples shit, do you really want to be readily identified by a pair of cat ears? I think the costume is very in keeping with her character.

Can’t really see that much anyway, so I don’t have strong feeling either way. However, I’ve openly stated that I think she’s the wrong choice for this role and nothing’s swayed that intial opinion yet. I just have faith in Nolan. So, I’ll wait and see, maybe it’ll be another outstanding performance. Maybe.
