Christie Cast as Brienne in Thrones

Christie Cast as Brienne in Thrones

July 25, 2011 By Sam Sloan Leave a Comment

English actress Gwendoline Christie (“The Imaginarium of Doctor Parnassus”) has been cast in the role of Brienne of Tarth, according to “A Song of Ice & Fire” author George R.R. Martin.

For those familiar with the Game of Thrones character from Martin’s work, Brienne, is the only daughter and heiress of Lord Selwyn of Evenfall. She doesn’t fit in as any kind of beauty despite her station. Her tall frame towers her over most men. Her social graces are awkward at best and personality needs a little help. However, fans of the book series fell in love with her making her a pivotal character for the series. Plus, Brienne’s skill with the blade makes her a formidable opponent earning her a spot in the Rainbow Guard of Renly Baratheon.

“Game of Thrones” is seen on HBO. Season two begins filming today in Ireland and will air on the pay cable channel in Spring 2012.
