Barrowman Praises “Miracle Day”

Barrowman Praises “Miracle Day”

July 7, 2011 By Mike Hickerson 2 Comments

Actor John Barrowman says that American fans who add Starz to their cable line-up to watch Torchwood: Miracle Day will get a solid return on their investment.

As excited as you were about what happened in Children of Earth, you’re going to be even more bowled over … There are times within Miracle Day when you’re going to have to have your jaw picked up off the ground with a forklift truck, you’re going to be so surprised. This is even bigger and even better and more shocking, in a way, than Children of Earth,” Barrowman tells Blastr.

And what will those surprises be? you ask.

“I can’t tell you too much about it, but within that storyline, what happens on episode one will be answered in episode ten,” says Barrowman. “So you won’t have to wait six seasons to find out what the answer is. But within those ten episodes, other things happen in true Russell [T Davies] fashion, in true sci-fi fashion. Other things happen in little mini-stories that get resolved or explode and get out of control. It’s going to be a huge roller coaster.”

The new season of Torchwood debuts Friday on Starz.

Talk about raising expectations. On the other hand, in earlier interviews he talks about the concept of the show and the instant overpopulation flies in the face of actual statistics. Although, seriously, any improvement over the odious Children of Earth would be nice.

Odious? I rather liked it (as did most everyone I know), but it did leave me emotionally exhausted to the point where I’ve only been able to watch it just the one time.

Having seen the first episode I can say that I like what I’ve seen so far. They have already planted some pretty big seeds so let’s just hope that RTD doesn’t mess it all up with a terrible ending as he had done in the past with Dr. Who.
