A segment of DC fans aren’t happy about the upcoming reboot of all the comic book lines. And they plan to make their voices hear at the upcoming San Diego Comic Con.
The event is planned for Saturday July 23 at San Diego Comic-Con in opposition to the publisher’s plans to revamp its comics with 52 new titles.
“Are you utterly baffled, disappointed and just angry to see how DC ruins your favorite character’s design and wipes decades of comic history out of the mainstream universe?” reads the Facebook page for the event. “Well, you’re not alone!
“Why not make some noise at the biggest pop culture event this year, where creators, artists and writers appear in person? Show them how fans – the fans of the classic characters, the (nevertheless slightly changing) designs, the character’s history and personality – really feel about it!”

lol comic books…tv shows…movies…books…even video games…don’t all developers pretty much sweep out the old to bring in their new vision so they can make it their own. As I recall there were a lot of complaints about BSG when they revamped it but in the end most people loved it…even many of the fans of the older version. Then again there have been some bombs as well. More power to them if they can actually get anyone to listen.

To DC Fans Who Don’t Like the Reboot:
there is only one form of protest in which you can engage that will have any effect at all on DC and their rebooted titles.
Don’t buy them.
That is all. Don’t write letters, they’ll be ignored. Don’t swarm Comic-Con, the increased attendance/profits will be interpreted as success. Don’t fill websites and comment sections with your reasoning or emotions regarding the reboot, it will just turn off those who are ambivalent or actively supportive of DC’s strategy.
In the end, all of those forms of feedback will be ignored or spun into a positive by DC except one. Don’t buy them. Hit them where it hurts: the bottom line. When their profits drop, their pre-orders dwindle, and the executive bonuses shrink, they” ret-con the whole thing back to pre-reboot status, and you can go back to your old favorites.
Peace.

I agree completely with Snowkestrel. That is why I stopped buying their comics and have switched my allegiance to Marvel comics. If enough people do it DC *might* get the hint and re-think some of their ideas in how they handle their “Universe.”

Um, wouldn’t that be a win for the DC Fans Who Don’t Like the Reboot?
