“Skies” Off to Solid Start

June 21, 2011 By Mike Hickerson 5 Comments

The combination of Steven Spielberg and alien invaders paid huge dividends for TNT Sunday night as the debut of Falling Skies delivered 5.9 million viewers in its debut.

The debut was the highest rated cable debut since TNT’s debut of Rizoli and Isles last summer.

Skies averaged 2.6 million adults 18-49 and 3.2 million 25-54s, the latter also a record for cable this year.

I would agree that the show started off fairly well. However, am I the only one who found the mechs complete lack of ability to follow up on any pursuit a bit suspicious? Are we supposed to believe these guys wiped out 80% of humanity yet our heroes can easily escape at comfortable jog? I guess I can accept that for much of Europe and Greece with their glut of government slugs, but c’mon!

Saw it…liked it…will definitely continue to watch…lot of unanswered questions I’m looking forward to seeing the answers to. Hope the ratings stay up…tired of seeing shows I like be canceled.

I watched it .. and liked it …we’ll see how it goes.

Being from the Boston area (I’m in Watertown as I type this) it’s nice to see and hear local cities and towns mentioned. (I’m *sure* it’s actually shot elsewhere)

    SPOILER ALERT:

The leader of the ‘bad guys’ who survived and is now a prisoner … will likely become a regular .. the antagonist who does contribute, but also screws things up.

speaking of the leader of the bad guys… can anyone tell me why he looks so familiar? Has he been in other geeky stuff?

@Vox, that would be Colin Cunningham who appeared in Stargate SG-1 and Atlantis.
