Will DC Reboot Clark Kent and Lois Lane’s Marriage?

June 17, 2011 By Mike Hickerson 2 Comments

DC may be taking a page from Marvel.

A couple of years ago, Marvel retconned the marriage of Peter Parker and Mary Jane Watson Parker.  Now DC may reboot away the marriage of Superman and Lois Lane.

According to Popcornbiz, the 15-year marriage of the two characters could be one of the things left out when DC reboots in September.

Co-publisher Dan DiDio said about the couple’s marriage, “Let’s just say it’s being re-examined, because it’s something that I think is … so valuable to the character’s story that you really want to explore all facets of it. Not just as it exists currently.”

The wedding took place in 1996 in the comic books, around the same time the characters got hitched on the ABC series Lois & Clark: The New Adventures of Superman.

But the time may have finally come for Kal-El and Lois to hire lawyers. “I think what you’re going to see is a lot of big changes for Superman,” added Didio. “We really went back to the core of the character. … I think it’s so important for us to make sure Superman stays as relevant today as he did when he first was created back in the ’30s.”
