Producer Joel Silver is looking for a new blockbuster and he thinks he’s found one on the Cartoon Network.
According to reports, Silver is looking at adapting Ben 10 for the silver screen.
Silver tells Variety his sons told him about the popular animated series and that he thinks it’s a perfect fit for the big-screen.
“I think we have to try something fresh and go at it in a way that stays true to the original material,” Silver said. “I tried to do (something similar) with Speed Racer and failed miserably. You always learn more from the ones that don’t work than the ones that do work.”
I enjoyed the two live-action Ben 10 films that have already been produced for Cartoon Network. They could be even better with movie quality effects.
Maybe they could get Peter David to do the screenplay?
It still breaks my heart that Speed Racer failed with the audiences. I personally loved it and would have been thrilled to see a new movie franchise start from it.
