The first episode won’t hit the air until June 19, but TNT is already so confident that Falling Skies will deliver they’re thinking about a second season.
Produced by DreamWorks TV and starring Noah Wiley, the show recently hired former Caprica co-creator Remi Aubuchon to serve as a show runner for the second season.
According to Deadline, TNT is waiting to make sure the initial ratings for the show warrant a renewal, but that the network is confident the series will be a hit for the cable network. If the premiere gets solid numbers, you can expect a second season to get a green light almost immediately.
“Fingers crossed,” Aubuchon said about the prospect of a second season, adding that he doesn’t want to jinx things but after seeing all episodes from the first season thinks that “they’re pretty awesome.” Aubuchon was first approached to join the show for Season 1 but had already made a commitment to Stargate Universe. None of the writers who worked on the first season of Falling Skies will be back as most are no longer available, including Graham Yost, who is busy with his FX drama Justified.
