AMC To Screen Director’s Cut of Rings

April 27, 2011 By Mike Hickerson 4 Comments

Can’t get enough Middle Earth?

AMC  theaters will screen the extended, director’s cuts of the Lord of the Rings trilogy in June.

The screenings are to promote the release of the director’s cuts of the films on Blu-Ray later this year.

AMC will show the films over three weeks. Fellowship of the Ring kicks off on June 14 with Two Towers following a week later. Return of the King airs on June 28.

Later this year? Amazon is showing it being released on June 28th. I am eagerly awaiting my set so I can try to have an all-day (and half the night) marathon of the movies in my home theater.

But how badly will they interrupt with commercials? LotR is something that I really can’t watch on television with commercials. Star Wars 4, 5 and 6 being another.

I’ll stick with the extended versions on DVD.

We actually participated in “Trilogy Tuesday” several years ago where select theatres played the extended versions of Fellowship and Two Towers, followed by the opening of Return of the King, back to glorious back.

    It’s not on tv, it’s in theatres…
