Campbell Confirms Evil Dead Reboot

April 14, 2011 By Mike Hickerson 6 Comments

Actor Bruce Campbell says it’s official.  A reboot of Evil Dead is happening.

“NEWSFLASH: We are remaking Evil Dead,” Campbell tells Reddit. “The script is awesome. I will be one of the producers and possibly play the milk man.”

Campbell says that everyone associated with the original trilogy of films would like to do another one but that the schedules for those involved are the biggest issue.

“In all honesty, we would all love to make another Evil Dead movie,” Campbell said. “When that will happen? Who can say – we’re all working on other jobs right now. We’re not trying to dodge anybody’s questions, there just isn’t that much to talk about. The remake’s gonna kick ass – you have my word.”

So, how do you feel about the reboot? Is the news better or worse with Campbell’s blessing?

And if you want to watch the original, you can check it out via Netflix Streaming.

    Wow!
A reboot that DOESN’T cause me any kind of Reboot Rage.
I’m actually looking forward to seeing it since Mr Campbell himself has blessed it, will be one of the producers, and will possibly even be *in* it.
I’d love for him to actually be playing the lead in a story that takes place years after the original ones, but oh well.

Bruce needs to be lead, not just the milkman.

This will actually be the second reboot right? Wasn’t “Evil Dead 2” essentially a reboot of the first movie?

Isn’t Bruce Campbell too fat to play a milkman???

    @ Barry

I don’t believe that ED 2 was a reboot, but a sequel. The first few moments in the second film was a quick recap of what had happened in its predecessor, leading all the way up to the Ash being launched, for lack of a better word, by the evil through the woods. I completely agree with Tallgrrl that in recent years the words reboot and Evil Dead being used in the same sentence would cause a deep wretch in my fanboy soul but given that Mr. Campbell has assured this to be “kick ass”, I can’t complain.

But than again, this could be a trick. Grab an axe.
