Cameron Sees 3-D As the Future

April 12, 2011 By Mike Hickerson 3 Comments

Director James Cameron has offered some unique visions of the future to audiences over the years.

And now Cameron says he sees a different kind of future from the fictional ones he’s posited over the years.  This future is one in which all visual entertainment will be in 3-D.

Cameron predicts that movies will go 100% 3-D in the next five years.  He made the bold prediction  during a keynote lecture with fellow Fusion 3D camera developer Vince Pace at the National Association of Broadcasters Show in Las Vegas Monday.

“”Our strategic plan is to make 3D ubiquitous over the next five to ten years on all platforms,” Cameron says. “Broadcasting is the future of 3D. Everything will be produced in 3D and 2D versions will be extracted from that.”

Cameron says that he’s working on ways to improve 3-D filming for the sequel to Avatar.

Maybe he should spend some time working on the script as well…

And he would be wrong. 3D is, and will remain, a fad until the technology becomes person independent (by which I mean that it works for everyone), less obtrusive and more than simply pictures displayed on a two dimensional surface.

Will this guy just go away!!!!!! I am not going to 3D and hpe it is not shoved on us. Cameron must be making some sort of profit on this agenda of his. STOP STOP STOP- 3D Sucks. Until I can see it without headaches and no glasses and from multiple angles I do not get the point.

3D will be the future when it no longer requires glasses or anything else you have to wear. I’ve always had an idea of what 3D movies should be like and I hope James Cameron is right because it could be big.
