Rise of the Apes Gets New Title

The Rise of the Apes has been given a new title to help make sure audiences know its part of the Planet of the Apes franchise.

Opening August 5, the film is now titled Rise of the Planet of the Apes.

James Franco, Freida Pinto, John Lithgow, Andy Serkis, Brian Cox and Tom Felton star in the movie, directed by The Escapist‘s Rupert Wyatt.

The plot revolves around genetically engineered chimp Caesar (Serkis) leading an ape uprising against humans in present-day San Francisco.
