March 30, 2011 By Mike Hickerson 10 Comments

Curious to know the title for the upcoming Monsters, Inc. sequel?

If you are, keep reading. If you don’t want to know, please stop reading now.

At CinemaCon, Disney revealed the title as Monsters University.

Sully and Wazowski (voiced by John Goodman and Billy Crystal) are expected to be back as will monster bad guy Randall Boggs (voices by Steve Buscemi). Disney has scheduled the sequel for a 2012 release.

Awe, does Disney want a little milk?

Here ya go, a nice unspoiled old property for ya! Suck on that for a while…

This sounds like a good idea. I loved the first movie and I think this one could be just as great. Just as long as Sully and Wazowski are voiced by the same actors and it looks like they will.

I thought Randall Boggs was eaten by the trailer park folks?

    It’s actually a prequel, isn’t it?

He can be back because it is a prequel. Before the stuff in Monsters Inc

Since it’s a prequel… cool. I loved the first movie and my 4 years old yells “KITTY!” when she sees me.

I think I should be offended, but… I’m just not sure.

Well Pixar has had a very good track record with the Toy Story sequels being as good if not better than the original. This gives me hope that they will maintain the quality of the Monsters, Inc original for this sequel (or prequel as the case may be).

As with all previous Pixar movies, this story is quiet liable to undergo numerous revisions and re-writes before we see it released so that the final product may bear little resemblance to the story idea we’ve all read here.

    Ben Ragunton has a point.

If you look at the extras on the Monsters Inc. and Incredibles DVDs, there are storyboards of completely different versions of these movies. IMHO, they’re just as good as the shooting scripts.
