Total Recall Reboot Lists Actresses on the Short List

March 23, 2011 By Mike Hickerson 5 Comments

As the reboot of Total Recall moves forward, we have news of the actresses on the short list for the two female leads in the movie.

Deadline has received a list of actresses vying for the two lead female roles in the film. First there is Lori, played by Sharon Stone in the Verhoven flick, who is Quaid’s wife who actually ends up trying to kill him. According to the site, both Kate Bosworth and Diane Kruger are being brought in to test for the role this week. As for the Melina, Quaid’s ally and former lover who helps him free the people of Mars, Eva Mendes and Paula Patton are both reading for the part, though Jessica Biel and Eva Green are also possible options (Mendes is being considered for the part of Lori as well).

The reboot is being developed by Len Wiseman and set to begin filming in May.  Colin Farrell has been rumored to be the leading candidate for the role of Quaid.

Why are we rebooting Total Recall?
Aren’t there any new ideas out there?
Is there a writer’s strike on?

Well, if they insist on making this unnecessary remake, then I can see either Mendes or Green as Melina. Biel might be able to sell the Lori role better than the others mentioned. As far as Farrell as Quaid, possible but need more action-presence, perhaps a Jason Statham or even Dewayne Johnson, if you can get those Tooth Fairy wings off his back.

This is not worthy of a remake.
