Amazing Spider-Man Villian Revealed

March 21, 2011 By Mike Hickerson 2 Comments

A slip of the tongue has revealed a secret Sony wants kept under wraps.

If you don’t want to know which of the rogues gallery Spidey will take-on in the upcoming Amazing Spider-Man, please stop reading now.

You have been warned…

During an interview with Retro Radio, C. Thomas Howell revealed that Spidey will face off with the Lizard in the upcoming reboot.

Sony wants us to be hush-hush right now, he says. ” I play a relatively small role. I play a construction worker whose son is caught in the middle of a battle between the Lizard and Spider-Man on the Manhattan Bridge. Spider-Man helps me get my son back from this perilous situation.”

“Spider-Man is kind of hurting. I help him when all of the other people won’t. Part of the story is, the nation thinks he might be a bad guy. They don’t know what to think. Because of my experience on the bridge with my kid, I know he is a good guy. I pitch in and help out at the end. That is the best way,” he added.

Until now, all we knew was the villain would be played by Rhys Ifans.  Until now, Sony had been keeping a tight-lid on the identity of the super villain.  Many speculated that it could be the Lizard or a reboot of the Green Goblin.

Of course, it could be the Lizard is only one of several classic Spider-Man villains to make it to the film.   We’ll keep an eye open for more details.

Honestly, I’m super UNDERsurprised by this. I think people pretty much figured this out almost from the announcement of the reboot. It was the obvious choice. Now, I just hope they don’t change it.

Reminds me of one of the spiderman comics. Spidey is fighting some robots at a construction site. Most of the workers run except one who says that Spidey saved his son from Carnage. He then jackhammers the head of the robot about to deal the killing blow.
