Craven: “Scream 4” Doesn’t Feel Like His Film

March 16, 2011 By Mike Hickerson 2 Comments

Already have a bad feeling about the upcoming Scream 4?

Our next story may not set your mind at ease.

Director Wes Craven says that as shooting for the film has gone forward, the movie feels less and less like the film he signed on to direct.

The director of the franchise told followers on Twitter that he is losing control over the project because of changes in the writing team.  Ehren Kruger has been brought in to make over the original script by Kevin Williamson, who wrote the first three installments in the franchise.

Speaking to Total Film, the horror legend said: “There was a bumpy period when things shifted over from Kevin to Ehren.

“I signed up to do a script by Kevin and unfortunately that didn’t go all the way through the shooting.”

He added that it is “not entirely” his film but his job is “much more bringing whatever experience and expertise and creativity I can”.

Is it me, or does anyone else have trouble mentally separating “Scream” from “Scary Movie”?

I pretty much feel the Scream Franchise has run its course. Why do another one? Is Hollywood that bankrupt of ideas for new films?
