Priestley Joins “Haven”

March 11, 2011 By Mike Hickerson 8 Comments

Actor Jason Priestley is moving to a new zip code. He’ll be part of a four-episode story arc on the upcoming season of “Haven.” In addition, he will direct an episode of the series for SyFy.

Priestly will play Chris Weekly, “a handsome anti-social marine biologist who must deal with an affliction most would consider a blessing,” according to the network. No word on what that “affliction” is, of course.

The series begins production on its 13-episode second season later this month. The new season will air this summer.

I gotta say, this series started slow but built to a nice little reveal at the end of the first season. I am pleasantly awaiting its return.

Not that I hate Haven, but does anyone else think it is a crime that Haven gets renewed and SGU gets canceled?

I’m so pleased that this show was renewed. It’s not big and flashy like so many other shows on the tv these days, but it’s got real heart and is delightfully quirky. The actors help tremendously and I think Priestly will make a nice temp addition.

Mike H: No I don’t think it’s a crime that Haven was renewed and SGU wasn’t. They’re so vastly different in tone and style you can’t compare them like that. Haven found enough viewers for SyFy to justify renewing it, SGU didn’t. But it’s not Haven’s fault that SGU wasn’t renewed. I watch(ed) both, as did many of my friends.

I liked both Haven and SGU…and wanted them to both be renewed. They are both good shows each in their own way…the crime is canceling SGU and putting on Marcel’s Quantum Kitchen and wrestling…neither of those shows belong on a science fiction channel.

I watched the first couple of episodes of Haven and was completely bored. I didn’t even realize it was still on.

I really enjoyed Haven, glad it’s being renewed. I loved Stargate SG-1, Atlantis was almost as good, but in my opinion Universe just doesn’t stand with them. Don’t get me wrong, I haven’t missed a single episode, yet it’s just for my love of Stargate in general. I’m just really happy they decided to sum up the series and not just cancel it all together to have a movie complete it later. Haven is a whole different show all together with some twists that give it a lot of credit. I’m intrigued to see what they have in store. Oh and I completely agree with Mich by the way. How dare they cancel a classic sci-fi show Universe, just to keep wrestling & cooking shows that have nothing to do with the channel it’s aired on. Never thought Syfy would lower themselves to corporate sell-out to such an extreme. Reminds me of the tampon commercial I’ve seen o Spike TV. Almost equally as saddening.

What a joke. SyFy cancels SGU, which was the best show on that channel, but they are keeping this poorly acted/written show? I guess Stephen King has some pull.

When Haven first came on i watched for a while, and as time went on i wasn’t disappointed, this show has lived up to what i have heard about it. It has NOT lived up to expectations, it should be cancelled. But, of course SYFY channel won’t ,
and i won’t watch the second season.
