The animated comedy “Rango” rustled up enough movie-goers to take the top spot at the box-office this weekend, though it couldn’t stop the overall slide in ticket sales that has plagued Hollywood all this year.
The animated feature took in $38 million over the weekend according to estimates.
In second was “The Adjustment Bureau” with $21 million, which was $5 million more than many analysts predicted.
Third place also went to a newcomer. “Beastly” took in $10.1 million.
Last weekend’s top film, “Hall Pass” fell to fourth with $10.1 million and “Gnomeo and Juliet” continued to do well with $6.9 million.
However, ticket sales remain 20% behind last year’s pace.
