Producer Promises “Event” Storylines Will Pay Off

March 2, 2011 By Mike Hickerson 1 Comment

With “The Cape” airing its final episode of the season this week, “The Event” is getting ready to make its return next week.

Fans wondering if they should come back for the freshman series may be encouraged by what producer Jeffrey Reiner is promising. In an interview released by NBC, Reiner says that the series will “pay off all [of its] disparate stories” when it comes back Monday.

“It’s really coming to a boiling point,” he claimed. “The President (Blair Underwood) is going to understand very definitively what Sophia’s people want and what they’re going to do.

“Each side is coming to these definitive moments where they’re going to have to make these huge decisions.”

Reiner also suggested that the introduction of Virginia Madsen as Senator Catherine Lewis will “broaden out the President’s story”.

“He was constantly playing against Sophia (Laura Innes) and Thomas (Clifton Collins Jr.) and we just needed to broaden his story out,” he said. “So enter this seemingly innocuous senator who has taken her husband’s seat.”

He added that Lewis will become a dangerous nemesis to President Martinez when she uncovers a conspiracy in her husband’s files.

“She becomes very ferocious in her attempt to find out the truth,” he said. “She eventually unearths that there’s something going on [at Inostranka].”

Actually, the next episode of “The Cape” might not air and be released online instead.
