Hathaway Confirms She’s Catwoman

Hathaway Confirms She’s Catwoman

March 2, 2011 By Mike Hickerson 4 Comments

anne-hathawayWhen news broke that Anne Hathaway would star in “The Dark Knight Rises,” Warner Brothers would only confirm she’d play Selina Kyle and not neccessarily  her alter ego of Catwoman.

Most of us assumed that Catwoman would somehow be part of the film.

And now it’s been confirmed by Hathaway herself.

Hathway confirmed the news on Oprah earlier this week while discussing her stint as Oscar host Sunday night.

Do you want the real story?” Hathaway asked Winfrey.

“Yes,” replied the show’s host.

“Okay. I’ve never told the real story before,” the actress began. “So the real story is, I was waiting to hear if I’d been cast as Catwoman. And my manager called me, and said ‘Are you sitting down?’ And I just go ‘Oh my god, here it comes.'”

“And she says ‘You’re about to hear something you will never hear again in your whole life.’ I’m like, ‘Okay,'” she continued. “And she goes, ‘You’ve been asked to host the Oscars.’ And I’m like ‘I’m Catwoman!!!! …WHAT?! Oh. Oh. Okay. WHAT?!'”

That sound like she’s been offered the Oscar hosting job not the Catwoman role.

I know I might be in the majority but I really like her. But then, I liked Hallie Berry as Catwoman, too. Not the movie, mind you, just her.

Those droopy eyes just don’t do it for me… but, I trust Nolan that the story will overshadow the lack of physical appeal.

    She’s not Julie Newmar.
    She’s not even Ertha Kitt.
But, I don’t think she’s been given a really meaty role yet. This has potential.
    We’ll see.
