And the Razzie Goes To…

February 28, 2011 By Mike Hickerson 3 Comments

As Hollywood prepares to honor its best tonight, last night the worst movies of 2010 were tallied by the 31st Annual Razzies.

Worst Picture went to “Avatar: The Last Airbender.” The film also took home Worst Director, Worst Screenplay, Worst Supporting Actor for Jackson Rathbone and the newly instated award Worst Eye-Gouging Mis-Use of 3D.

Rathbone was associated with two pictures up for the Razzie this year with both “Avatar” and “The Twilight Saga: Eclipse” getting nods as worst picture.

Worst actress went to Sarah Jessica Parker for “Sex and the City 2.” The sequel also took home the award for Worst Screen Ensemble/Worst Screen Couple and Worst Sequel.

Ashton Kutcher took home the Razzie as Worst Actor and Worst Supporting Actor for two roles, “Killers” and “Valentine’s Day”, while Jessica Alba won for Worst Supporting Actress for her work in “Little Fockers”, “Machete”, “The Killer Inside Me” and “Valentine’s Day.”

None of the winners were on hand to accept their awards. Last year Sandra Bullock came to the ceremony and gave an acceptance speech.

Gotta hand it to Sandra Bullock…she’s got moxie…as for this year didn’t see The Last Airbender but Twilight Eclipse was definitely terrible. All the emo vampire sagas get on my nerves…whatever happened to stories like Buffy that knew how to lighten up at times and have a little fun with it and vampires like Spike that could get semi-emo without losing their bite. Avatar was not as great as everyone was going on about either…everyone like to see the new technology but the story was meh.

Why do I have a feeling that “Worst Eye-Gouging Use of 3-D” could become a really crowded and hotly-contested category in years to come?

I truly, truly believe Yogi Bear was robbed in that category. Although to be fair, the 3D only made an already horrible movie slightly worse.
