Peterson Says “Smallville” Finale Could Surprise Fans

February 23, 2011 By Mike Hickerson 5 Comments

“Smallville” producer Brian Peterson says fans should get ready for some surprises in the “Smallville” finale.

“Every version of Superman in the movies, comics and TV show[s] is a slight variation on a theme,” Peterson told Assignment X. “As long as there is respect for the character and the basis of that character, there can be a lot of different interpretations.”

“I think we will walk that balance rather nicely. That’s our goal,” he added.

The showrunner also admitted that he has mixed feelings about the series finally coming to an end.

“It’s going to be very bittersweet to leave these characters we’ve seen [for] so long and we love so much,” he confessed. “But I want to feel inspired [by the finale], as a fan. That’s what I want.”

It’s a good thing my expectations for this series were destroyed in season 3 or I’d be terrified of what ‘surprises’ these people think will still be respectful of the characters.

That said, I’m more or less enjoying this final season and I’m looking forward to the finale. I appreciate that it’s two hours long.

I’m guessing the “surprise” will be that his costume will look nothing like the real Superman costume.

After waiting 10 seasons for THE Costume they better not disapoint us with anything else but the real deal.

Well they have already changed it with their variations (ie the red jacket with the “S” on it, the black coat/cape) now it’s time to stop the variations and give the true fans the one chance they have left to see the real deal!
