It was another down weekend at the box-office as much of the country dug out of a huge winter storm.
The slow weekend saw the new thriller “The Roommate” open in the top spot, taking in $15.6 million. The film was panned by many critics, but that didn’t stop audiences from coming out to see it. In its first week, the film has almost made back its entire budget.
After that, it was a fairly sharp drop to the second spot. 3-D couldn’t help “Sanctum” break the $10 million mark. The James Cameron produced feature took in $9.2 million to open in second place.
In third was “No Strings Attaches” with $8.4 million. Fourth place went to “The King’s Speech” with $8.3 million.
Rounding out the top five was “The Green Hornet” with $6.1 million.
Ticket sales were down 24% over this time last year reports Hollywood.com. And overall the audience size was done 25%.

I liked Sanctum… It was visually stunning and had some good acting even if it felt a little too much like Vertical Limit crossed with The Cave with the speech by Samuel L. Jackson from Deep Blue Sea!
