Cameron Announces Dates for “Avatar” Sequels

January 24, 2011 By S. K. Sloan 4 Comments

Ready for another visit to the wonderous world of the Na’vi? Director James Cameron has just announced when that will be possible with news of release dates for his two new sequels to the highly profitable “Avatar”.

Mark your calendars for Avatar 2 on Christmas 2014 and #3 will be in theaters Christmas 2015.

Entertainment Weekly asked Cameron who he will be casting for the sequels and he stated, “Basically, if you survived the first film, you get to be in the second film, at least in some form.”

Can’t wait! I think he’s the king of the re-watchable 3 star movie. His big strength is the tactile realism and human elements. I wonder if not having 10 years to write the script will change them. Avatar had a very 90s sensibility so I wonder if his sequels will reinstate more with the modern sci-fi audience. Also, if he’s busy making more cool movies he won’t have as much time for putting his foot in his mouth.

And they said the signs of the Apocalypse weren’t real.

I wasn’t a huge fan of Avatar but now that I think the world and characters have been firmly established, a sequel has the potential to be much better than the first one.

Avatar is like the Twilight series to me….I don’t get it…the movies aren’t all that great but people go gaga over them…I think it’s just the hype…people get excited about them because they are told that they are the best thing since sliced bread. Twilight was boring…Avatar wasn’t much better.
