Columbia has released the first image of Andrew Garfield in the famous red and blue costume of Spider-Man. The still comes from the reboot of the popular Marvel comics character that is currently under production.

I know he’s something like 27, but in this, he actually looks like a teenager, which is what Spidey starts as. Tobey looked closer to his own age, rather than Spidey’s, in his first SM movie.
I’m not sure yet if that’s a good thing or bad thing. It will depend on his acting ability. I haven’t seen him in anything yet … Can he pull it off, besides just having the “typical teenager” look?
As far as I’m concerned, Garfield was the star of Social Network. He was frakkin’ brilliant.
I think what bothers me most about the Maguire trilogy and apparently this new one is that the Spidey suit doesn’t look homemade anymore. Spider-man was a hero on a budget. He couldn’t get skin-tight hand tailored clothing.
Of course, that’s just a nit-pick, but still, doesn’t feel right…
