Wonder Woman Shelved

January 10, 2011 By Mike Hickerson 3 Comments

The television reboot of Wonder Woman has been put on hold according to Deadline.

The high-profile new version of the series, helmed by TV veteran David E. Kelly, has been put on hold when a deal with a broadcast network could not be completed.  Sources say the potential series had a problem of “unfortunate timing.”

Kelley intended to do a contemporary take on the popular DC Comics heroine for Warner Bros. TV.

Sources say that while the CW would have been a good fit for the show, the network couldn’t afford the price tag associated with the show.  Representatives showed Kelly’s pilot script to Fox, ABC, CBS, and NBC. Fox turned the script down, but it was apparently never thought to be a good fit for the network anyway, and was only shown as a courtesy.

This doesn’t mean a reboot of Wonder Woman won’t happen.  It’s just not likely to be this version of the project.

CW does sound like a good fit…shame they couldn’t afford it. Now if I can just get the old Linda Carter Wonder Woman theme song tune out of my head.

ABC was interested, but since their boss is the Mouse and the Mouse owns Marvel, they didn’t want to piss off their boss with a potential Marvel/DC war. I’m so sick of this crap. Let me know when the bloody project is greenlit and being cast. Til then, I’m done.
