In a slow weekend at the box-0ffice, Oscar contender “True Grit” came out on top. The remake of the classic John Wayne Western took in $15 million and topped the weekend charts for the first time since it s release.
In second was the comedy “Little Fockers” with $13.8 million.
Third place went to the newly opened Nicholas Cage film, “Season of the Witch.” The film took in $10.8 million.
Rounding out the top five were “Tron: Legacy” with $9.8 million and another Oscar hopeful, “Black Swan” with $8.4 million.
The weekend continued a nine-week trend of diminishing box-office results. The overall box-office sales were down 23% from last year, according to USA Today.
